A beautiful selection of Six Sonatas Edited by Marie Zunova
Jan Ladislav Dusík (1712-1812) travelled almost all over Europe as a Czech musical emigrant. He made a name for himself as an organist and piano virtuoso, and worked as a teacher and concert organizer.
The origin of his compositions for the harp is related to the pervasive technical improvement of the harp mechanism that took place at the end of the 18th century. Dusík wrote a cycle of six harp sonatinas in a graceful late Rococo style. The small two-movement pieces consistently alternate between free and more rhythmically animated movements. The work was first published in print in Paris by Erard in 1802.
This Paris print was also the model for our edition - the editor, Marie Zunová, has added here, in addition to correcting obvious errors and editing the score, fingering and pedalling, phrasing and dynamics which are only sparsely marked in the original print. The title is part of the Musica Antiqua Bohemica series.
